Modifications/Possible Extensions:

  1. Prompt children to color each group of images within a graph a different color so they are distinguishable from one another and to make counting easier.
  2. Guide students on counting groups by writing a small number on each item as they count to help them keep track of which ones they have counted and how many within a group.

Common Core Standards:

K.CC.4 Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.

K.CC.6 Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group, e.g., by using matching and counting strategies.
