Overview:  The following is a collection of Frog Crafts to engage your little ones during your study of frogs. Materials needed and directions on how to implement are included.

Recommended Grade Level(s): Preschool, Pre-K, Kindergarten, First

Life Cycle of a Frog Craft

Materials:

  • Life Cycle of a Frog Paper Plate Template (1 per child)
  • crayons, markers, or paints in green (+brushes and smocks)-optional as you could just leave paper plate white
  • glue sticks (1 per child)
  • scissors (1 per child)
  • large paper plate (1 per child)
  • a black marker (optional)

How to Implement:

  1. Paint or color the paper plate green. Let dry.
  2. Draw a + in the center of the paper plate with a black marker (alternatively, you can fold the paper plate in half, open, and fold in half the other direction to form four sections).
  3. Cut out Life Cycle pictures.
  4. Paste Life Cycle pictures in order on the paper plate to show the life cycle.

Frog on a Lily Pad Craft

Materials:

  • Frog on Lily Pad Worksheet printed on heavy paper (1 per child)
  • crayons, markers, or paints (+brushes and smocks) in green + colors of choice
  • glue sticks (1 per child)
  • scissors (1 per child)
  • googly eyes (2 per child) optional

How to Implement:

  1. Using the Frog on Lily Pad Worksheet, color, or paint frog pieces. Let dry.
  2. Cut out frog pieces.
  3. Fold long strip like an accordion. Glue one end to the underside of the frog. Glue the other end to the top of the lily pad.
  4. Frogs can be completed by adding spots or other designs and even some googly eyes.

Paper Bag Frog Puppet Craft

  • Paper Bag Frog Printable (1 per child)
  • crayons, markers, or paints (+brushes and smocks) in green and red
  • glue sticks (1 per child)
  • scissors (1 per child)
  • small paper lunch bags in white or brown (1 per child)

How to Implement:

  1. Using the Paper Bag Frog Printable, students will color or paint frog pieces. Let dry.
  2. Cut out frog pieces.
  3. Place the paper bag in front of you. Flip the bag so that the bottom of the bag is now the top and facing you. (see the example on Paper Bag Frog Printable).
  4. Arrange pieces on the bag and glue them in place. Use the paper bag puppet to mimic a frog, sing frog songs, or to retell your favorite frog story.
