		<description>I love to see parent teacher conferences begin with the teacher asking the parent(s) a question about their child.   This technique can break the ice or diffuse anger or complaints.  It is affirming to parents and establishes that you as the teacher recognizes that the parent is the expert on their child.  The question can be as simple as &quot;how do you think (your child) is doing this semester?</description>
