Word Matters: Teaching Phonics and Spelling in the Reading/Writing Classroom

March 15th, 2009

This book is an awesome resource that focuses on phonics and spelling instruction. It is a companion to the book Guided Reading: Good First Teaching for All Children written by two well-known authors, Gay Su Pinnell and Irene Fountas. Aside from many concrete examples and reproducables, the book offers essential information about helping students in grades K-3 learn about letters, sounds, and words. A very valuable book that offers many, many practical tools. A must have for any new teacher!
